Learn To Drive

Bailey’s Driving School offers several courses helping you learn to drive. From a new driver that has not driven before, to partly trained drivers who have not finished their training. At Bailey’s lessons are individually tailored to suit your needs. Lessons can start and finish from home, work, college or other convenient locations.

So if you are looking to learn to drive using a professional, female driving instructor covering Witham, Braintree, Maldon, Heybridge, Chelmsford, Hatfield Peverel, Boreham, and the surrounding areas, call Bailey’s Driving School.

Courses Available

Starter lessons – Never driven before, learn to drive completely from scratch.

Partly trained – You have had some lessons before and you want to start where you left off. You could have had two or twenty lessons; it doesn’t matter as we will base your training on your driving abilities.

Helpful First Time Driver Information

The DSA recommends you have approximately 45 hours professional tuition and 20 hours personal tuition to enable you to pass your driving test. The roads today are very different from years ago as is the practical test. Therefore we have fully structured lessons to prepare you for your test, but more importantly to be a safe and confident driver in the future.

You need to be 17 years old to drive a car on the road unless you have a disability living allowance at a higher rate, in which case you can start at 16 years old. Also you may apply for your provisional licence three months before your 17th birthday.

You can apply for your driving licence either at the post office with a D1 form or online if you have a up to date passport.

Theory Test:

Before you take your practical test you need to take a theory test. You can take your theory any time after your 17th birthday, some people choose to take this before they start to drive, but at Bailey’s we suggest that it is taken while you are having lessons as it will make more sense and be easier to remember.

With regard to booking a lesson with Karen from Bailey’s Driving School,  we suggest you contact us at least one month in advance of your desired starting date so you have the best choice of dates and times for your lessons, however if you do need to contact us at short notice, we will do our best to accommodate you.
